Health and Well-being

At Gildersome Primary School, we take the health and well being of our children very seriously. We believe that in order for children to learn to the best of their ability, children must:

  • Feel safe and happy
  • Have good relationships with peers and staff
  • Care about their learning  - be curious, aspire to improve, be responsible for their own learning and understand that learning takes effort (This forms part of the school's 'Learning Code')

In order for this to happen, Gildersome Primary school has various procedures in place to support children such as:

  • The services of a Learning Mentor
  • Regular 'Pupil support' meetings with key leadership and teaching staff
  • Support from other organisations such as the Morley Cluster and the Area Inclusion Partnership

In 2017-8 the school is working towards 'Healthy School' status. which will support the school to assess its work in supporting children's social, emotional and mental health. This project is being lead by Mrs Paling and forms part of the school's development plan.
