Homework Friday 23rd November

In Literacy, we have been writing diaries. For your homework we would like you to practise this skill. You can either write a diary about your own weekend or choose one of the scenarios below. Remember to write in first person and mainly in the past tense. Also, try to include feelings and time conjunctions.

1. Scenario 1 - It was your birthday yesterday. You were upset because you thought people had forgotten. Later on, you went out and when you came home, all your friends were there. Your family had organised a surprise party. Imagine what happened and how you felt throughout the day.

Day 1 – The day before your birthday. How are you feeling? What do you do? You may want to say what you think you may be having.

Day 2 (morning) – The day of your birthday. It seems that everyone has forgotten your birthday. How do you feel?

Day 2 (evening) – You find out that your family have arranged a party for you. Where is the party? How do you find out? How do you feel? Who is there? What presents do you have?

2. Scenario 2 - The school team is playing a match against another local school. For some reason, you have not been asked to play. Write your diary for the day when you found out you wouldn’t be playing. How did you feel? Why weren’t you asked to play?

Day 1 – The day before the game. You presume that you will automatically be chosen to play. How do you feel? What sport is it? Who will you be playing? Where will the game be?

Day 2 – The day of the game. You find out that you will not be chosen. How do you find out? Why aren’t you chosen? How do you feel? What do you do?
