Interesting pets

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have read the story Emily's perfect pet and talked about different pets that people could have. We have been focusing on unusual pets, how to draw them, paint them and if the children would like to have them as a pet. The children have also enjoyed making split pin animals, creating unusual play dough pets, decorating snakes, making fish tanks and creating tortoises.

We loved meeting Fidget the hamster and Tolly the tortoise this week. We heard all about how to care for them, what they enjoy doing and the food they like to eat.

Lots of our Nursery children are busy playing and learning at home. They are doing a fantastic job - as you can see from these photographs. Thank you to all the amazing adults for encouraging and suppporting their children.

Rabbits

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about rabbits! We have talked about how to care for them, what they need to live and what they look like. The children have enjoyed painting rabbits, drawing rabbits, using craft materials to create rabbits and making a hutch for a rabbit.

We now have a pet shop in Nursery. We have had lots of fun buying and selling things for the animals.

The children have also worked hard ordering numbers, naming shapes, completing patterns and scrimbling.

Keep checking Tapestry and parent mail for home learning ideas :-)

Pets

This week we have been thinking about cats! The children have enjoyed listening to 'Keith the cat with the silly hat' and then drawing him different hats at the mark making table. We have made paper plate cats on the workshop table, fed the cat the correct number of fish at the maths table and worked on our cutting skills at the finger gym.

The children were amazing at following instructions this week. They worked hard to draw some fantastic cats!

We really enjoyed the snow on Thursday! We even made two snowmen!!

School will be closed Friday 15th January. We will see you back at Nursery Monday 18th, enjoy the snow!

Happy New Year

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

We have had a lovely week in Nursery with our key worker children, but we are missing everyone else too! We hope you are all staying safe and have managed to access tapestry and parent mail at home for activity ideas.

In Nursery we have started our topic about pets, this week we have focused on dogs. The children have enjoyed playing Paw Patrol, colouring pictures, painting dogs, cutting and ordering dogs, adding spots with tweezers, printing with bones, completing jigsaws and talking about our own dogs and pets.

We have also been helping sick animals in our vets this week.

Lots of fun was had in the snow on Friday too!

Wow! We are really impressed with the learning Nursery children are enjoying at home. It looks like the children are having lots of fun as they learn. We can see lots of activities here including making signs for Key Workers, clapping for the NHS and joining in with the rainbow window challenge.

Hopefully these photographs will give you some inspirational ideas for next week. It is a great way for the children to see what their friends have been up to too!

Stay safe everyone,

Nursery Team
