Exercise!

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about how our bodies change when we exercise. We have been experimenting with different ways of moving, following the yoga instructions, having races with the animals and making healthy heart characters.

The children all worked hard on Wednesday for our sports day!

Reminder: We are having an end of year celebration on Wednesday 21st July. Children can come to school in any outfit of their choice :-)

Our World

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about the changes to our world. We have read the book 'Dreamer, Saving our Wild World' and thought of ways that we can help to save the world. The children have enjoyed creating the Earth in different ways, sorting out objects to recycle and making 'Save the World' hero masks!

We had a great day on Wednesday making England flags, creating posters and singing football songs! We definitely think that all our singing helped us win on Wednesday night!

We had lots of fun at the school fun day on Thursday! We want to say a BIG thank you to the school PTA for organising everything. To quote one of the children "This is the best day ever!"

Reminder: We are having a Nursery sports day on Wednesday 14th July. Please send your child to school in trainers or something suitable for running in.

Butterflies

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

We have really enjoyed watching the caterpillars grow each week. The children talked about the changes from caterpillar, to cocoon, to butterfly.

Summer

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about the changes in the season. The children have enjoyed colouring pictures, writing postcards, going on train journeys and decorating sand castles.

We were amazed at how well our cress grew! The children looked at the differences from last week and some of them tasted the cress at snack time. We also went to the allotment to water our vegetables and talked about the changes in our caterpillars!

To celebrate OBON day on Friday we made scones, coloured flags, played games, created Holi inspired hand prints, performed 'London Bridge is falling down' for the rest of school and enjoyed listening to the other classes perform their songs.

From seed to plant

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about the life cycle of a seed. The children have enjoyed looking closely at seeds in different fruits and vegetables, matching seeds to numicon plates, using cubes to measure sunflowers, painting flowers, growing cress and moving the bulbs that we planted up to the school allotment.

Reminder: To celebrate One Britain, One Nation day on Friday 25th June the children can come dressed in red, white or blue. If your child stays all day please send a pack lunch as normal.

On Tuesday 22nd June at 6pm there is a meeting for the parents of children who have a place in our reception classes from September 2021. An email link will be sent enabling you to join the meeting.

Bubble Fun in School!

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog - 2019-20

The children in school have had a fantastic time playing with bubbles today. We investigated how best to make bubbles and how we could make different size bubbles! This was part of the Reception learning this week but we all joined in because it was so much fun :)
