I don't eat the colour green

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog

We have enjoyed reading the book of the week 'I don't eat the colour green.' We have talked about healthy food and why it is good for our bodies to eat fruits and vegetables. The children have had lots of fun exploring peas, printing with different green vegetables and writing a shopping list. Mrs Richardson taught us a song about being healthy and remembering to brush our teeth.

We have really enjoyed science week! We have experimented with colour mixing and reactions.

Reminder: Please send your money for the Mother's Day room by Monday 18th March.

A busy week

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have enjoyed hearing the story 'red rockets and rainbow jelly.' We have made our own rockets and explored colours by matching buttons on the colour chart. The dark den is very popular this half term. The children are enjoying exploring all the lights and challenges inside it.

On Tuesday we talked about pancake day. We watched a power point and had fun using the scissors and glue to design our own pancakes. We even made some pancakes, the children enjoyed eating them with sugar and lemon juice.

Thank you for your amazing efforts with World Book Day costumes. The children enjoyed telling all their friends about the characters.

We had a fun day as Miss Honey, Miss Trunchbull, Matilda and Mrs Wormwood.

Reminder: stay and play sessions Thursday 14th March 11:05-11:35am or 2:45-3:15pm

We hope to see you there :-)

Colour

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog

Welcome back! This half term we will be thinking about colour.

We have enjoyed reading lots of Elmer the patchwork Elephant stories this week. The children have enjoyed colouring in Elmer pictures, painting patchwork, rolling the dice and standing on the correct patch of colour on Elmer and threading lots of different colours to make a repeating pattern.

Reminder: Children can dress up as their favourite book character on Thursday 7th March. If they would like to bring their favourite book in for us to look at, we can do this during our group time.

Pet sale

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been reading the book The Great Pet Sale. We have enjoyed drawing komodo dragons outside, wearing the masks to act out the story and using the play dough to make the pets for sale.

A big thank you to everyone who booked an appointment this week to speak about your child's progress.

Reminder: Next week is half term, we hope you have a lovely week and we will see you back at nursery on Monday 25th February.

Chinese New Year

Anna Head (a.head) on: Nursery Blog

We have been talking about Chinese New Year this week. We have been using chopsticks, exploring the red rice, painting Chinese symbols, writing menu's and making traditional Chinese hats.

We made fortune biscuits together and wrote a special message to go with them.

We danced with the Chinese dragon outside and sang our Chinese dragon song as we played with the parachute. Mrs Parker made some noodles for us to try and we thought they were delicious!

Reminder: Next week is a 4 day week as Friday 15th February is a training day.
