Christmas

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Reception Blog

Well we are very busy and getting very excited for Christmas.

The children have been working very hard learning the phonemes at the beginning of phase 3 and we are practicing reading and writing words with our new diagraphs in.

We have also been helping father Christmas weigh his presents before putting them on his sleigh.  We used lots of new language of heavy, heavier and heaviest and light, lighter, lightest, balance, the same.  We also used different counters to weigh them.

We all really enjoyed our Christmas Dinner

We have loved doing lots of Christmas crafts but they are a surprise so no photos and we are excited to get the glitter out next week,

We enjoyed wearing our Christmas Jumpers too.

We have also worked really hard on our singing and the video is coming soon,

We have made it to the end of what has been a busy but enjoyable half term. The children have been amazing and I am sure you will agree adapted brilliantly to the way we are doing things.

This week in Reception we have focused most of our learning around Halloween.

In maths we have focused our attention on looking at 3d shapes and their properties.

Our new sounds this week are

Our Vocab and other activities all around Halloween.

Here are some of the other Halloween activities that we have been doing.

On Friday we had a Halloween fun day. The children came dressed up, decorated biscuits and then danced and played party games.

Another busy week in Reception this week.

We have moved on from number 2 to start looking at number 3. We have learnt the rhyme to form the number and also how to make the number 3.

Our Vocabulary this week is focused around Autumn. We have learnt what all three different words mean and maybe what we do.

As we are also looking at Autumn we have set up some activities outside.

Thankyou to everyone who posted photos on to tapestry of your autumn walks.

One of children made a lovely picture of the things he found on his Autumn hunt.

To help with our hand strength we do a dough disco every other day.

Please can everyone continue to practise their letter formation sheets and name writing, we are seeing an improvement already.

Many thanks

Reception team
