Easter holidays

Posted: Apr 3, 2020 by: j.handley on: Year 5 Blog - 2019-20

Hello Year 5,

I just wanted to say a huge 'Well done' to all the Year 5 children who have been busy working hard keeping up with the school work I have been setting for you each day.  I am so proud of you - you've been amazing!  Also a big 'Thank you' to all the parents and carers for supporting your children with their learning.  It will make a difference!

Optional activities for the Easter Holidays

As the weeks beginning 6th and 13th of April are the dates of the Easter holidays, we will not be setting the usual learning tasks for the children on Microsoft Teams. However, during these unusual times, we understand that you may want some suggestions of activities that you could do with your children at home. There is a short list below that you may want to use. There is no expectation from school that you do them, we just thought you might welcome some ideas to help keep your children occupied!

https://littlebinsforlittlehands.com/  there are some suggested Easter themed Science activities and various other ones too.

Devise an Easter Maths trail to set up in your garden or around the house. If you Google ‘Easter Maths trail’ lots of examples will come up to give you inspiration

Make a ‘Happy Newspaper’. There is so much negative news around at the moment that it is sometimes easy to stop seeing positive things. Get your child to make a booklet and add to it each day with drawings and facts that you research or add some happy news about something that may be going on in your own life.

Make a collage. It could be Easter themed, a rainbow or a different feel good message that could then be put in your window to share with your neighbours.

Make some happy postcards and drawings and post them to relatives that you are unable to see at the moment, it would really cheer them up to receive them in the post.

I will be continuing setting tasks after the Easter break on Microsoft Teams.  In the meantime, I'd love to see some pictures of some of the activities you get up to at home over the next two weeks.

Be good for your parents and stay safe,

Mrs Handley
