Homework

a.roclawski on: Year 6 Blog

Hello!

A few parents have enquired about setting extra homework each week.

At the moment we set per week:

15 Minutes of reading per night

A maths activity

A literacy activity

5 spellings (fornightly)

A topic homework (ongoing over 3 weeks)

We feel these tasks are sufficient, as your children are having a very content heavy curriculum during the day.

If however you would like extra work for your children please ask your child to visit the following websites:

www.satscompanion.com

www.educationcity.com

https://play.ttrockstars.com/

www.topmarks.co.uk

BBC Bitesize

These sites will offer lots of activities to support your child.

Many thanks,

Miss Roclawski and Mr Reid

History Detectives

a.roclawski on: Year 6 Blog

Last week year 6 put their detective hats on and investigated what life was really like for our troops in the French and Belgium trenches.

We presented them with "source packs" filled with primary and secondary sources.

The pupils then had to read and hunt for clues in the sources to complete their own "Tommy Guide To The Trenches."

Everyone worked incredibly and loved investigating and searching for clues!

On Friday, Year 6 were looking at some SATs-style questions with their partners.  We looked at each question and worked together to explain how to work out the answer.

Bruntcliffe Academy Open Evening Information

a.roclawski on: Year 6 Blog

Hello all,

Please find below the following information shared with us via email this week:

"The time is quickly approaching where Bruntcliffe Academy would usually open its doors to the community for our annual 'Open Evening'. However, this year will have to be different.
We are in the midst of planning two, possibly four, Open Days on Saturday 3rd October and Saturday 10th October.
The days will be accessible by appointment only and will consist of a tour of the school site by a senior member of staff plus a Q & A
. In preparation for this, we have designed flyers that we would like to deliver to your Year 6 families. These will be ready for Monday 28th September.
We will deliver these to your school on the week commencing 28th September and would appreciate your support in handing these to your Year 6 families."
