Rabbits

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been thinking about rabbits, we talked about how to care for them and their basic needs. We used pencils, paints and playdough to create them, made hutches with the craft materials and counted carrots into the correct numbered plant pots. We have worked on our pencil and scissor control and completed jigsaws.

The children have really enjoyed working in the vets looking after all the animals.

Pets

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

We’ve had a busy two weeks in Nursery. We have started our new topic, 'pets and animals'. So far we have talked about dogs and cats and how to care for them. We used soap and brushes to groom a pup, made footprints in gloop, used different materials to create dogs and paints to create cat faces. We added 1 or 2 spots to dog pictures and used numicon plates to fill in animal shapes. All the children have started their own books all about pets and we have loved seeing and hearing all about your family pets.

Welcome back!

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break.

We have started this half term thinking about winter. We have been talking about the changes outside and what type of clothing is appropriate for winter. We have created snowmen using the letters in our names, had fun exploring ice cubes in the messy tray and used plates and paints to make robins.

We talked about how animals might struggle to find food in the winter, so we used cheerios, pipe cleaners and string to make bird feeders to hang up outside.

We have had some new children come into Nursery this week for their stay and play sessions, they were all amazing and seemed to have a lovely time. We look forward to welcoming them as members of our Nursery from next week.

We are happy to tell you that Mrs Parker will be making a return to Nursery over the next few weeks but sadly that means Mrs Senior will be leaving us at half term.

It's Christmas!

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

We have had a busy two weeks of Christmassy fun at Nursery! Decorating trees, making cards, creating calendars, wrapping gifts, joining paper chains, singing songs and writing letters to Santa!

The children sang their hearts out when we recorded our Christmas songs, we are very proud of them all.

We had a wonderful Christmas party! We even had a visit from Santa!!

We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, we look forward to seeing you back at Nursery on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

The Little Red Hen

Janet Spencer (j.spencer) on: Nursery Blog

This week we have been reading the story The Little Red Hen. We used the characters to act out the story, created windmills, worked at the Nursery bakery and tasted different types of bread.

We reached our class target last week so we had our prince and princess treat day on Wednesday.

Reminder: Children can come to Nursery wearing something Christmassy on Wednesday 8th December ready to perform our Christmas songs.
