Advice for parents and carers

You should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your children catching the Coronavirus.

The Government has once again taken the decision to close all schools and nurseries in England to all children except those of key workers and vulnerable children.  The school will remain closed until at least Monday 8th March.  The school will close for the February half term as normal.  School will open again after the break to those families who have been offered a place due to meeting the qualifying criteria.

If you need a place in school for your child, please email info@gildersomeprimary.org.uk

What action can you take

The government has put the country back in to a national lockdown.  For advice on what you are allowed to do during the lockdown, please click here.

The government has launched a nationwide campaign to provide clear advice on how to slow the spread of Coronavirus.  Please help to support the campaign which promotes basic hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands and always sneezing into a tissue, to stem the spread of viruses.

What we are doing in school

The Government is also providing guidance which is specific for schools, a poster of advice we are following can be found here.  The school is receiving regular updates and will continue to follow any advice provided by the authority.  We have a very comprehensive risk assessment in place in school.  A copy of the risk assessment can be found here.

In school we have spoken in assembly to the children about good hygiene practices and will continue to remind children about this in class.

The key message is for people to call 111 with any queries about the advice.

The Government have now launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education.  Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687
Email: DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)
