SEN Teaching Assistant
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, inspirational and highly motivated Teaching Assistant with experience of working with SEN children to join our friendly, welcoming village school.
This role is initially offered as a fixed term contract until August 2026 but may well be extended further if funding is secured. The standard contract is 27.5 hours per week.
In addition to having a demonstrable understanding of the classroom role and responsibilities, you should possess a sound knowledge of working with, or caring for children, ideally combined with an awareness of policies and procedures relating to child protection. The ideal candidate will have experience or training of working with children with additional needs, ideally with a specialism in either Autism or Speech and Language.
The successful candidate will:
- have high expectations of the children both in terms of achievement and behaviour and be committed to raising standards
- be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently using their own initiative
- have enthusiasm for working with SEN children
- have experience of working with children with complex SEN needs including social communication difficulties and autism
- be able to use taught strategies to calm children
- have experience of working across the Key Stages particularly Early Years
- be able to motivate and inspire children
- be able to communicate effectively with children, staff and parents
- have good Literacy and Numeracy skills
- be able to improve learning outcomes with groups and individuals
