People Who help us

Wow what a busy term we have had so far.

We have enjoyed learning about the different jobs people do.  We found out, all about being dentists and how they check our teeth to help us look after them.  We know we need to brush our teeth twice a day for 2 minutes and Lisa gave us all a special chart to check we are doing. We have learnt about what to eat and drink to look after our teeth and that eating sugar isn’t good for our teeth. We are all trying to drink more water and not juice. We loved meeting Lisa and hearing all about her job in the dentist. We then brushed our teeth for 2 minutes it seemed like a really long time.

Next we have learnt about Doctors and Nurses.  We learnt how important their jobs are and all the different things they do, as well as how they check our heart, pulse and blood pressure. We have talked about healthy food and how we need to keep moving to stay healthy. So we have been practising running, skipping and controlling a ball outside. We also enjoyed the mile run as part of sports relief.

We had another special visitor. Kim is a nurse and she talked to use about listening to our hearts and taught us to feel our pules.  We also learnt that she changes, beds, helps the patients with eating and dressing as well as talking to them and giving them medicine. We found out its always good to make people who aren't feeling well smile.

Next we have learnt about a famous nurse from the past.  We found out, from non-fiction books, about Florence Nightingale.  Florence was a nurse who lived a very long time ago. We found out she helped the soldiers in the war by cleaning the hospitals and making sure the soldiers had a bed and good food which helped them get better.  She also trained lots of nurses and set up the first school for nurses.

We have also enjoyed world book day and dressing up as a word.  Celebrating pancake day by making  and eating pancakes and looking at Mother's Day and talking about all the things our Mums do for us.
