Year 2

Autumn 1 - Superheroes

Laura Berry-Simpson (l.berry) on: Year 2

We have had a lovely first half term in Year 2.

Here are some of the things we have been up to:
- We have learnt about real life superheroes like Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Sir Captain Tom.
- We have learnt about the role that nurses, the police, the fire service and supermarket staff have in our community and learnt how they are superheroes too.
- We made a card for Gildersome's Coop to show them our appreciation of their hardwork throughout lockdown.
- We have learnt about Place Value in Maths.
- We have learnt how to write in paragraphs and how to use adjectives to make our writing more exciting.
- We have learnt about how to look after our teeth and carried out a gross egg experiment.
- Class 2M even managed to achieve their class target and were rewarded with a film & snacks afternoon with their favourite teddies.

We can't wait for the next half term where we will be learning all about... CHOCOLATE!

Home Learning Week 2

Anna Head (a.head) on: Year 2 Blog - 2019-20

Here is what some of 2M got up to last week!

Harry has been trying really hard at his Home Learning and his handwriting is still as beautiful as when we left - keep it up Harry! Harry is a huge fan of the Joe Wicks workouts and he has been doing them every day - he even joined Joe on dressing up as Spider Man - love it Harry you look like you're having so much fun!

Eloïse has been busy making some Powerpoint Presentations as an extra task. Some of you will remember the slides we put together as a class to help remember some of our grammar - you could have a go at making your own, you could choose your own colours and pictures! Amazing idea Eloïse!

As well as doing her Home Learning Cerys has been gardening, she collected caterpillars for her butterfly house - how exciting Cerys I can't wait to see them once they transition into butterflies. She is also growing some Cress Heads using cotton wool and water - a quick and fun task for any children wanting to do an science experiment at home.

Jacob has been smashing his Home Learning! He is learning more and more about Historical landmarks and events too - I can't wait to hear all of your facts when we get back Jacob. He has also been playing with his brother which is so lovely to see - keep up the good work Jacob!

Finally, Maddie baked some lovely Mars Crispy Cakes which I was lucky enough to try when I went into school - thank you so much Maddie they were SO delicious!
