Year 2

Autumn 1 - Superheroes

Laura Berry-Simpson (l.berry) on: Year 2

We have had a lovely first half term in Year 2.

Here are some of the things we have been up to:
- We have learnt about real life superheroes like Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Sir Captain Tom.
- We have learnt about the role that nurses, the police, the fire service and supermarket staff have in our community and learnt how they are superheroes too.
- We made a card for Gildersome's Coop to show them our appreciation of their hardwork throughout lockdown.
- We have learnt about Place Value in Maths.
- We have learnt how to write in paragraphs and how to use adjectives to make our writing more exciting.
- We have learnt about how to look after our teeth and carried out a gross egg experiment.
- Class 2M even managed to achieve their class target and were rewarded with a film & snacks afternoon with their favourite teddies.

We can't wait for the next half term where we will be learning all about... CHOCOLATE!

Journey of a Cocoa Bean Projects - 2B (Part Two)

Anna Head (a.head) on: Year 2 Blog - 2019-20

Ruby

Ruby had made a poster on the journey of a cocoa bean. Ruby confidently read out her information and she could talk knowledgeably about the process. Ruby had included some colourful bubble writing to make her poster eye-catching, well done Ruby :)

Isabel

Isabel had made some instructions on how to make chocolate. She had presented it on a big piece of card and included lots of information, including pictures, mini models and writing. She had clearly thought carefully about how she was going to present it. Isabel was able to give a confident delivery to the class and I only had to help her with a few words when she was presenting, well done Isabel :)

Bruce

Bruce had produced a model of a boat that was filled with sacks of cocoa beans. He explained to the class how he had made it (with the help of his dad). Bruce could tell us why he had chosen to make a boat and what the relevance was to the journey of a cocoa bean. Well done Bruce :)

Oscar

Oscar had made a model of a factory at home. He had used a cereal box and covered it with aluminium foil. Oscar had made some pretend cocoa beans to go into the factory and then a chocolate bar coming out of the other side. Oscar could tell us all about the process of making chocolate. Well done Oscar :)

Phoebe C

Phoebe had designed her very own Wonka bar! A huge bite had been taken out of it so we are wondering if Zac got peckish! On the back of her Wonka bar, she had written lots of information about how cocoa beans become chocolate and she delivered this information confidently to the class. Well done Phoebe :)

Rosie

Rosie had drawn two detailed pictures of cacao pods and cocoa beans growing on trees and could confidently explain what they were and where they come from. Rosie had then written some facts alongside her pictures and she delivered this information clearly and confidently to the class. Well done Rosie :)

Callum

Callum had created a lego masterpiece which demonstrated all about the process of making chocolate. He told us all about how it grows on trees, to the chocolate river and Willy Wonka in the factory! He had thought carefully about each section and could confidently talk knowledgeably about the process. Well done Callum :)

Edward

WOW! Edward had created a HUGE poster which described perfectly the journey of a cocoa bean. Edward clearly delivered the information to the class. Edward used pictures and writing to capture our attention and it was laid out extremely clearly. It is clear to see how much time you spent on this Edward. Well done :)

Pebbles

Pebbles had prepared some notes to share with the class in her notebook. She spoke confidently to the class and had a clear understanding of the process that a cocoa bean goes through to become chocolate! Well done Pebbles :)

Olly

Olly had made a colourful book all about the process of making chocolate. It was jam-packed full of information and it was a clear that a lot of time and effort had been put into it. It was beautifully presented and well thought out. Olly delivered the information clearly and confidently to the class and we have put this onto the WOW wall in our class. Fantastic, well done Olly :)

Bobby

Bobby had drawn a picture of a plane with a pop up part that showed the cocoa beans been transported to the other countries. Bobby could explain why they needed to be transported and gave a confident delivery to the class. Well done Bobby :)

Isla

Isla had made a beautiful poster all about the journey of a cocoa bean. She had produced a detailed drawing in the middle and then surrounded the picture with lots of facts about the process of making chocolate. It was clear to see Isla had thought carefully about how she was going to present it. Well done Isla :)
