Year 2

Autumn 1 - Superheroes

Laura Berry-Simpson (l.berry) on: Year 2

We have had a lovely first half term in Year 2.

Here are some of the things we have been up to:
- We have learnt about real life superheroes like Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Sir Captain Tom.
- We have learnt about the role that nurses, the police, the fire service and supermarket staff have in our community and learnt how they are superheroes too.
- We made a card for Gildersome's Coop to show them our appreciation of their hardwork throughout lockdown.
- We have learnt about Place Value in Maths.
- We have learnt how to write in paragraphs and how to use adjectives to make our writing more exciting.
- We have learnt about how to look after our teeth and carried out a gross egg experiment.
- Class 2M even managed to achieve their class target and were rewarded with a film & snacks afternoon with their favourite teddies.

We can't wait for the next half term where we will be learning all about... CHOCOLATE!

Journey of a Cocoa Bean Projects - 2B (Part One)

Anna Head (a.head) on: Year 2 Blog - 2019-20

Freya

Freya had produced a colourful written report in her homework book. It was very informative and she had clearly organised her information well, demonstrating a good understanding. Freya read her report to the class confidently and clearly, well done :)

Joshua

Joshua had produced a booklet full of information all about the journey of a cocoa bean. He had organised his information clearly and had stuck in photographs alongside his writing. Joshua had also included a picture of himself on the back enjoying some lovely chocolate! Well done Joshua :)

Aidan

Aidan had produced a Minecraft World about the journey of a cocoa bean. He had thought extremely carefully about the best conditions for the cacoa trees to grow in and showed a brilliant understanding of the process. Aidan had then recorded himself talking us through his Minecraft world and explaining the process of how we get chocolate extremely clearly. This was a very creative way to approach your homework Aidan, well done :)

Maddison

Maddison had made a model of her very own chocolate factory! She had decorated the outside so that it was very colourful and eye-catching. On the inside, she had made a conveyor belt which clearly demonstrated how chocolate was produced. Maddison spoke knowledgeably to the class about how we make chocolate and demonstrated a good understanding of the process. Well done Maddison :)

Kaiber

Kaiber had prepared an oral presentation for the class on the journey of a cocoa bean. She had prompt cards to support her and had clearly practised her delivery. Her delivery was expressive and clear and the children all enjoyed listening to her tell us the story of the process. Well done Kaiber :)

Noah

Noah had made two models which quite literally represent from bean to bar! His first model was of a cocoa pod full of cocoa beans and the second was of a Kit-Kat. Noah could confidently talk to the class about how he made the models and could describe the journey of a cocoa bean with confidence as well. Well done Noah :)

Eve

Eve had created a beautiful story board which told the story of the journey of the cocoa bean perfectly.  It was clear to see the amount of time and effort that had gone into making it with the detailed information and drawings. Well done Eve :)

Hannah

Hannah had produced a booklet full of information about the process of making chocolate. It was extremely informative and it even had a contents page! Hannah read the information clearly to the class and spoke with confidence about the process. Well done Hannah :)
